Should I become an aircraft mechanic?
Even though many other aircraft mechanics make over $70,000 a year (including me), the career isn’t for every one. If you’re seriously interested in becoming an aircraft mechanic, you need to know everything about the career BEFORE you go into it because you might not like it.
I would like to know how to become an aircraft mechanic. What do I need to do?
There are three ways you can become an aircraft mechanic:
- Join the military and get your training there
- Go to college and spend thousands of dollars to get an A&P License
- Get paid while you receive your training, AND get your A&P License for free
Unless you are planning to join the military anyway, that's probably not the best choice. And you have to remember, even if you join the military it’s not guaranteed that you will receive ALL of the training you need to enter into this career.
Going to college is the second option, but why would you spend thousands of dollars and years of your life in college when you can get paid while you receive your training AND get your A&P License without paying even $1 for it?
The last option is obviously the best choice!
What are the requirements to be an aircraft mechanic?
Many different types of people work as aircraft mechanics: young people, middle-aged people, and older people. I’ve even met a mechanic that was in a wheelchair!
So, as you see, there isn’t a specific set of requirements, and nearly anyone can work as an aircraft mechanic.
How long does it take to become an aircraft mechanic?
As I mentioned, many aircraft mechanics spend years in college or in the military getting the training they need. What most of these people don’t know is this: there’s a super easy way to become an aircraft mechanic in as little as TWO months (in most cases, although sometimes it only takes six weeks).
The best part is, you GET PAID while you are receiving the training. This training can’t be found at a school or college, the military, or online. There’s only one place to get it.
Okay, I want to make $40 - $60 an hour, get paid while I am being trained, and get my A&P License for free. What’s the next step?
